Topic 1 Overload Defence 5 on 4 or 4 on 3

Description:

This drill makes the players work more, because of one less defender while trying to stop the offense.

Tips:

Emphasis is given on communication. You should keep one less defender to stop the offence. Practice rotations after the ball is out.

Instructions:

  • Keep 4 offensive players around the perimeter and 3 defenders in the lane.
  • Ball goes to offenders and the defensive players have to match up as fast as possible.
  • Offenders should try scoring
  • The same defensive player can not guard two passes in a row.
  • Try more variations e.g. 5 on 4, 3 on 2.
