People through their lives are continuously under an active process of learning and social development.
It is essential for them to interact with others, be able to communicate and understand each other.
Basketball can constitute a tool assisting towards the connection with others, synthesize information and making decisions.
Therefore communication in both verbal and non-verbal cues, inside and outside the court is greatly important. Thus this module will provide an inclusive pedagogical approach for developing physical and mental life skills through basketball for youth.
This unit aims at providing the players with interpersonal communication skills through utilization of proper vocabulary under various game situations.
Players will communicate verbally, transition from different situations in an appropriate manner and position themselves in accordance with their teammates.
To enhance the players ability to confidently communicate verbally and form a part of the cohort. Also to understand appropriate terminology and implement it during a game/practice.
Unit 2
Non – Verbal Communication
This unit aims at providing the players with interpersonal communication skills through utilization of body movement, posture and eye contact under various game situations.
Players will use bodily movements and expressions to coordinate the game situation with their teammates.
To increase the players ability to confidently communicate in a less is more fashion. Also boost their proprioceptive capabilities and awareness of the team positioning.
Unit 3
Active Listening
This unit aims at providing the players with interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills through appropriate response, acknowledgment and attention under various game situations.
Players will hear and respond appropriately in a variety of settings during a game experience.
To develop the players ability to listen, analyze and decide in a short amount of time.
The ability to express oneself orally. The message is transmitted through spoken words.
Non verbal communication
The ability to transmit messages through facial expressions, body movements, gestures
Active listening
It is a way for improving mutual understanding through listening and responding. It requires the listener to fully concentrate, understand, respond and then remember.
